The Great Exchange
II Corinthians 5:21 For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew
no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
This is the difference between Christianity and Religion. Christianity is a free gift, and Religion
you have to try to somehow earn your way. The word "Gospel" means "Good News" and that is
the "Good News"! That is the great exchange! God takes my sinfulness and gives me His
righteousness! Many religions and even some Christian circles have trouble with the term Jesus
used in John 3:3, that a man has to be"Born Again". but forget that it was Jesus himself that used
this phrase. What does it mean, to be"Born Again"? It is simply accepting the fact that Jesus
became your substitute on the cross at Calvary. And accepting that what He did, He did for you!
In Romans 10:8-13 it is written that with the heart man believes unto righteousness. And with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation. To be"Born Again", man must admit that he is a sinner.
In Romans chapter 3 and chapter 5, the Apostle Paul goes into depth, about the sinfulness of
man, and why Jesus came to pay the price for our sin. One great preacher said, he came to pay a
debt He didn't owe, because we owed a debt we couldn't pay! The Great Exchange is asking
Jesus to come live inside of you! John 17. And when you do that, it changes your nature from sin,
to righteousness! And this exchange, is what Jesus said, man must be"Born Again". In Matthew
1:23 Jesus is called Emmanuel, God with us. A better translation would be, God in us! Also, see
Colossians 1:27, Christ in you, the hope of glory. Man is a triune being created in the likeness
and image of a triune God. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Man is Spirit, Soul and Body. It is
the Spirit part of man that gets"Born Again". Then this new Spirit (Christ in YOU), goes to work to
conform the soul and the body. When man gets"Born Again", He all of the sudden has a intuition
of sin, or doing wrong things that he didn't have before! A conviction that comes from the life and
nature of God is present to let him know that what he did was not right. The more a man
surrenders to this inward witness, The more Christlike he becomes. And the more Christlike he
becomes, the more God uses him as a vessel for good. In I Corinthians 9:27, Paul said, I keep
my body under and bring it into subjection... The I he refers to, can not be his body, because this I
is the one keeping this body under. The I Paul is referring to is his spirit. In I Peter 3:4, Peter
refers to the hidden man of the heart. This hidden man is his"Born Again" spirit that has the life
and nature of God. The soul, or senses realm of man, and the body of man will want to keep on
sinning. But this"Born Again" spirit of man, has the life and nature of God to do good. You must
make a conscious effort to have your spirit man dominate your flesh to live triumphantly in
Christ. It has been said, that if there is no change, you didn't repent. Repent means to change
directions, and go in a different direction. The"Born Again" Christian will want to do what is
pleasing to his Father, just as Jesus did! And will become God in me minded for the rest of his
life! The Great Exchange was Gods idea, not mans.
